Staff Background Information

 

Gopal Kulkarni, PhD, CIP, Director Human Subject Protection

Gopal Kulkarni  started working at the Carle Foundation Hospital in June 2009. He has a PhD in Biochemistry with over 20 years experience as a researcher working on NIH-funded projects, and as a teaching faculty member at a medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, Texas. He also has a Masters Degree in Clinical Research Management, with training in clinical research design, monitoring, protocol writing and reviewing, medical writing, regulation of human subject research and IRB administration.

 

Kyle Galbraith, Human Subject Protection Specialist

Kyle L. Galbraith has a B.A. in Religion with a Biology minor from Centre College in Danville, KY, as well as an M.T.S. and Ph.D. in Religion from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.  Prior to coming to Carle, Kyle served as a Clinical Ethics Fellow in the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  He enjoys music, cooking, and exploring Champaign-Urbana with his wife.

 

Cathy Tabor, Human Subject Protection Specialist

Cathy Tabor has a B.S. in Business Education and a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Illinois State University. Prior to coming to Carle, she spent almost 10 years as a computer application instructor for State Farm and the Office of Admissions and Records at U of I. While at U of I, she began working on her doctorate in Human Resource Training. In her free time, Cathy likes to design embroidery patterns and creating embroidered clothes and quilts.

 

Mary Lyman, Office Coordinator 

Mary has an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Parkland College.  Prior to working at Carle, she worked in the Telecommunications industry for over 10 years.  Mary enjoys spending time with her family and participating in 5K and half-marathon racing events.
